Ukrainian hospitable manors – a return to the land for recovery

The manor (known as a 'sadyba' in Ukrainian) represents the traditional way of life in Ukrainian villages. A residential building and outbuildings with a courtyard, an adjacent garden, and a vegetable garden represent a separate farm or estate.
While there are certain common features that may be found in hospitable manors of rural green tourism in different regions of Ukraine, each estate is unique. The design of each house, its decoration, and the arrangement of the yard reflect the owner's living conditions, experience, and worldview, often depending on natural conditions and local flavour.
In the majority of cases, manors serve as examples of the preservation and reproduction of the natural environment, farming, and the authenticity of various ethnocultural traditions that Ukraine is rich in.
The hospitable manors of Ukraine have been restored and modernised to provide high-quality services in a way that is clearly identifiable as part of the local lifestyle.  Many of these properties have become a refuge and a place of healing for people affected by the war, offering a nurturing environment and a return to traditional rural living.
Rural tourism in Ukraine offers a wide range of services, from purely authentic green estates to multifunctional agrotourism farms. These include experiences, creative proposals and diversified offerings.
Despite the war, Ukrainian villages are getting stronger and learning resilience. Visitors can taste home cooking, be inspired by and enjoy nature, participate in folk festivals, immerse themselves in the hospitable villagers and get to know them. They will advise on the safest options and demonstrate that recovery starts right now!
