Mulgimaa – a community with entrepreneurial spirit!

Mulgimaa is a historic region in southern Estonia. Mulgi farmers were known to be wealthy and the first in Estonia to start buying their own farms from landlords in the late 19th century to cultivate flax. Their growth in wealth was demonstrated by the building of stately houses, as well as being able to send their children to study at the best and most expensive schools.

Today Mulgimaa fascinates the senses with its unique nature and heritage from the past, as well as with exciting ventures and active people. Three Mulgi cultural icons: the dialect, the well-known men’s long black jacket and the traditional Mulgi porridge have survived to this day.

Come to Mulgimaa in the summer and let's go on an awesome bike tour with great people!

We’ll move at a nice, leisurely pace, get to know the sights along the way, listen to stories and enjoy the company.

The length of our journey is about 100 km: the first day is 48 km and the second day is 52 km.

The first day

10:30 We’ll meet in the parking lot of Halliste Church and we’ll take all of your sleeping equipment (tent and other things) onto our car to deliver them to the accommodation.

We get to know the local life (Halliste church) and start our journey to Kaubi manor – Pöögle manor – Leeli.

Lunch awaits us in the Mulks’ Oak Forest. After that, we continue our journey to Äriküla and from there along small forest roads from Pilpa village to Holdre castle.

Our camping area is next to Holdre Castle.

In the evening we’ll go to the sauna, refresh ourselves in the river water, have dinner and have a night walk in the castle.

The second day

After breakfast, we pack the sleeping equipment back on the car and start the journey towards Taagepera.

We will have lunch at the former Rutu missile base. We’ll continue our journey through the Kurimetsa nature reserve to Sudiste. Through Karksi and Polli, we will return to Halliste.

17.30 End of the tour by the Halliste lake

Price of the tour starts from 91 €.

The price includes the introduction to the places on the route, transportation of things, meals, a camping spot, visit to the sauna and the castle. Bicycle rental for an additional fee (27 € / two days).

If necessary, we can also help transport your own bicycles from Viljandi to Halliste and back (10 €).

Why a bike tour is a good idea:

  • Being on the road is a very good opportunity to be with yourself, while being physically active. It refreshes the mind and in the end we get the experience that 100 km is doable.
  • You can have a nice pace when riding a bike (perhaps walking is too slow and driving a car too fast). That way you can notice what's around you – nature, people, landscapes, old buildings, etc. Our motto is: "Know where you're going but enjoy the moment."
  • On our tours, we make our clients perceive nature – smells, sounds, countryside activities and at the same time themselves – how you feel, whether you can recognize and encourage yourself, etc.
  • The tour is a good opportunity to communicate with your companions – on small roads where there is no traffic, you can also ride next to each other and there we can talk about our joys, worries, etc.
  • During the hike, we get to know different farms and what they do there – there are so-called livestock farms, where we can feed the animals and cultivate the land; there are lifestyle entrepreneurs who do what they love and make a living doing it.
  • Bike tours are also good team building tools – you have to encourage each other, wait for and help the weaker ones, repair a broken bike, run under a tree from the rain, etc.

"When you ride a bike, you have time to observe your surroundings" – life itself
